Every year when it’s time to decorate for the holidays, trimming the tree is our favorite tradition. From picking out the perfect tree, to putting on the perfect holiday playlist of our favorite songs, to unboxing the ornaments that hold so many memories, to spending time together trimming the tree. There is nothing quite like sharing the moment together on the first light of the tree. The warm glow of hundreds of little white lights, the ornaments sparkling, and the smell of fresh pine is the start to a beautiful holiday season.
I am sharing ideas for a trim the tree party to show you how easy it is to make a favorite holiday tradition a little more special with a few simple touches. Read on and join the fizztivities!
It all starts with picking out the perfect tree!
We love going to a local tree farm. The trees are so fresh and beautiful standing tall. It is fun to walk the rows of trees searching for the best one.
Once we get it loaded up on the car and get it home, it’s time to put the Christmas music on and lay out the lights and decorations for trimming.
I love to unbox the ornaments and lay them out before they go on the tree. As each ornament comes out, the memories flood in. Each one holds a special place in my heart. Some are hand painted by my Me-Maw when I was a little girl, some have been collected from our travels through the years, and some are gifts from dear friends and loved ones.
Once the tree is fully decorated, it’s time to break out the snacks and enjoy the first lighting together!
I have a spritzer recipe that is so delicious! Have you seen the new Sprite Winter Spiced Cranberry? It is available at your local Kroger for a limited time. Definitely don’t miss this one! It is a new twist on Sprite Cranberry with the addition of warm spice notes that deliver the essence of the holidays. It is so good! I mixed it with Simply Cranberry and added a few slices of fresh oranges and some fresh cranberries for a festive drink for our party.
A few simple appetizers and snacks are all you need for a gathering to enjoy together under the twinkling lights of your tree. Cranberry Brie Bites, Mom’s Sausage Balls, and some popcorn are easy and quick to prepare.
For easy beverages, add a tray of drinks with a few extra ornaments for a festive touch. I love the Coca-Cola glass bottles. They come in a 6 pack in a cute container that features the jolly old fellow! I also wrapped a few DASANI Sparkling Berry cans with red bakers twine, drink stirrers with little trees on top and a red and white striped straw. How cute are they?
So bring a touch of magic to holiday moments with loved ones – making the holidays a little more special.
What are your favorite traditions for the holidays? I’d love to hear about them! And for more fun ideas, be sure to check out these festive ones.
