Deck the halls with boughs of holly, fa la la la la….Oh how I love this time of year! And I fall in love again with our home every year once the decorations go up. There is nothing quite like the feeling of a house drenched in twinkling lights and warm memories.
This year I decided to do a virtual Christmas Home Tour! Thanks to Wayfair, I finally have a proper first impression at my front door!
We collect nutcrackers and have been longing for a large nutcracker for our front door. I have seen some in the past but didn’t love them enough to buy one. Until I found this one at Wayfair! I love the colors and the details on his face. He is heavy too! So I know he will stand at attention all season long.
Welcome to my home! Have a look around and stay for a while. I love to entertain and love having you here!
And we love to enjoy hot chocolate and a Christmas movie so this year, I have all the goodies on a stand ready for hot chocolate any time!
Moving on to the dining room, I love to change my art for the season. When my son was three we took him to see Santa with a local photographer. I LOVED the images that were captured, so much so that we never went to see Santa again. I didn’t feel that I would ever capture any images that were better than these and thankfully my son didn’t like the thought of standing in line to wait to see “Santa.”
These images truly warm my heart every year when I hang them up. And thankfully, my 15 year old doesn’t mind seeing himself as a little boy with Santa!
We collect nutcrackers but I have managed to also build a collection of Santa Clauses. My grandmother used to hand paint ceramic ornaments every year for our family. One of my most treasured ornaments is a vintage Santa Claus. He is so jolly and anytime I see a Santa decoration that reminds me of him, I have to get it.
One of my favorite Santa decor pieces is the Santa head that I have hanging in my hallway over my mirror. With a couple of candy cane stripe pillows on my vintage hand carved bench, I smile and think of my Me-Maw every time I walk by.
I decided to do an alternative garland to the more traditional greenery garland on my stairs this year. I made this ornament garland and just love how simple and stunning it is! It is crazy easy to make and I will be posting a DIY tutorial this week so you can make one too! I loved it so much, that I made one to hang over the front door and three more to hang outside in between the columns in my garden area.
Before we head upstairs, we can stop in the Master Bedroom. This is my sanctuary. I love the monochromatic color palate and to bring in a little Christmas to this space, I created a garland to hang over my mirror. I used an old artificial garland that I had from my parent’s house from when I grew up. I added several Christmas floral picks to the garland and a strand of lights. It is truly my restful space. My kitty thinks so too!
All right friends, let’s head upstairs and take a peek into the guest room. But first, at the top of the stairs is another collection of nutcrakers and one of my favorite photos of my son from years past. I love the joy in his laughter. He will take great delight in you. – Zephaniah 3:17
Last stop is the guest room, better known as CiCi’s suite. CiCi is what my mom’s grandchildren call her. I love having a space just for my parents when they come to stay with us and this room gets plenty of use during football season in our college town by friends and family!
