One our favorite thanksgiving traditions is gathering together with my mom’s side of the family at my brother’s house each year. There are about 40 of us and we all bring something to contribute to the family dinner. When I was growing up, we gathered at my grandparent’s house. My grandmother made most of the dinner and her kids all brought sides. Although my grandparents are no longer with us, the traditions continue and so do my grandmother’s recipes.
As the years pass, my generation all have families of their own and some of their kids are starting their families now too. I am so grateful to have a family to surround myself with, and home cooked dishes to share around the table in a home full of love. So anytime there is a new tradition to begin that reflects on all that I am thankful for, I am all for it. Read more after the pics and discover how to celebrate Thanks and Giving this year at your table.
How cute is this Turkey on the Table? I just love his whole look. He starts out each year without any feathers in his tail. Each person takes a tail feather and writes a sentiment of gratitude and then adds it to the turkey. In no time, he has a tail full of feathers! He is the perfect centerpiece for our kids’ table, although he’s cute enough for the big table! He would also make a great addition on your dessert table too. To really make the kids’ table rock, I added festive plates and cups from Swoozie’s, my go to store for any celebration.
But what sets this tradition apart from the others is that is full of Thanks and Giving. For each Turkey on the Table® kit purchased, Turkey on the Table donates one dollar to Feeding America on your behalf, which in turn helps secure ten meals. How amazing is that?
So wherever you find yourself this thanksgiving, I hope it is with the ones you love at a table with a plate of deliciousness in front of you. Happy Thanksgiving friends!
