The food was really simple! Krispy Kreme doughnuts became “Doughnuts of Doom”, green apples & almond slivers were “Monster Mouths“, ghost Peeps on black striped party straws were “Ghost Pops”, I even had a pasta salad made with black and orange striped pasta I found at Homegoods! We had Spider Cider in one crock pot and Witches Stew (chili) in another crock pot.
Black grapes & white Stilton cheese with Apricots along with a goat cheese log & honey to drizzle on top made a simple paring with our wine served in blood rimmed wine glasses. Take corn syrup and pour a few tablespoons into a flat bottom bowl. Add a few drops of red food coloring and blend it in. Dip the rim of each wine glass into the red corn syrup and set on your tray. The syrup will slowly drip on it’s own! A fun little touch!
Each year, we give out prizes for the pumpkins that are carved. This year, we made our own Halloween crackers using toilet paper rolls, crepe papers & assorted toys & candy. Just fill each roll with a few candies & toys. Wrap crepe paper around them and twist the ends. Tie with ribbon on the ends and then add fun stickers to award the prizes. My son helped me come up with the prize names this year and he did a much better job than me! “Most Fang-tastic”, “Ghost-tacular”, “Most Batty”, & “Most Monsterous” to name a few.
The pumpkins turned out great and we all enjoyed the party and especially our unexpected furry guest, Midnight the cat. He belonged to some of our friends who came to the party and he followed them up the street and joined us that night. He was the perfect addition to our Spooktacular evening!

I love this!!! Could you tell me more about your “Take a web and a candle and light it up” activity? What exactly is it? Can you think of a nut-free alternative to the almond slivers in the monster mouths? They are adorable but our part has to be nut-free.
Amy's Party Ideas says
Hi Amy!
Thank you for your sweet words! The “Take a web and a candle and light it up” display was actually for the finished pumpkins after our guests carved them. When they finished carving, they could pick up a paper spider web and set their pumpkin down on it to display it. Then they could take a candle and put it in the pumpkin and light it to “spook”….just a fun way to say, now you’ve finished carving and light it up for all to enjoy. You could even keep a silver sharpie marker and have them write their names on the black paper spider webs so everyone would know who carved which pumpkin!
For the monster mouths, I just love them! I found this idea from another blogger who used plastic straws cut into teeth shapes for a nut-free alternative. Or you could use sunflower seeds or pumpkin seeds…these options keep it all edible!

How did you make those wine glasses with the blood – its so cool!!!!!
Amy says
Thank you Christie! They are so easy to do! Put a little bit of corn syrup in a shallow flat bottom bowl big enough for your glass rim to fit in. Add a few drops of red food coloring and stir it in. Then dip the rims of your glasses into the red corn syrup and turn them right side up. They syrup will drop on its own and eventually “dry”. Hope this helps!
