I have recently been asked quite a few times about how to make the vine garland backdrop that I created for our Skylander’s party. When I was creating it, I thought about making a tutorial, but let’s face it, in the throws of preparing for an event, I seldom have the luxury time to do anything additional. So, I kept the extra supplies in my nifty storage box knowing one day, I would have the time to create a quick tutorial showing you how you can make one too!
Due to the nature of the crepe paper, the wire wrapped inside each leaf really goes a long way to keeping the leaves looking “fresh”. I would not recommend doing this a long time in advance. I did mine the day before the event and was able to leave it hanging overnight. It is a bit fragile and I would not recommend traveling with it…it is one of those items best assembled in place at the location of your event.
Here are list of the supplies and resources where you can get them:
CREPE PAPER ROLLS: CARTE FINI IN SAGE, LEAF, AND METALLIC GREEN/GOLD
GREEN GRAPEVINE WIRE: HOBBY LOBBY
This backdrop would be perfect for any Jungle Book themed birthday party, a Where the Wild Things Are birthday party or even a Dinosaur birthday party. The possibilities are endless! So have fun and be sure to link up so we can see your masterpiece in action!

Great DIY. I know doing tutorials take a long time. Never tried doing a video though. Was it hard to do?
Amy's Party Ideas says
Thank you Christine! It was actually pretty easy! Just imported my photos into the movie maker program on my computer and added music, set the timing of each photo and published the video. I love video! I hope to incorporate some real time video clips in the next one.

Thank you so much for sharing this tutorial and your Skylanders Bday Party! I’ve been trying to figure out how to pull off such a party when there are no items with this theme in stores right now. (We live in Terrebonne, QC.)
Over the weekend I made my own elements cupcake toppers and symbols to hang on a garland at Ayden’s 7th bday. Seeing your party games and cake though has blown me away and inspired me even more!
Thank you ever so much and please: keep sharing your wonderful ideas! I just LOVE moms who DIY and go all out for their kids – it’s a passion of mine and will continue for all 3 of my little one’s.

I am in love with all your ideas! I love going all out with a theme! I stumbled onto your website on pinterest and ended up ordering your paper supplies. Thank you for all the info you provided on your page, it’s very helpful! I had a question for you though. Where did you find your little sharks for the game? I have been looking and not having much luck. THanks again!
