Six days till kickoff and we are ready! Make your tailgate the talk of the town with these easy tips and AUsome tailgate party goods! When I first discovered Team Tablevogue, I knew I had to have one for my alma mater! WAR EAGLE! Seriously, the tablecloth alone could make the whole tailgate. (And they have them available for every college team…so cool!) Then I just planned the menu around foods & products that are in our team colors. So easy and so cute, right? Hope you find some inspiration for your tailgate too. So get ready for FALL & FOOTBALL!
The key to any themed tailgate party is to think about your team colors and traditions and try to incorporate them into your tailgate party. At Auburn, we have many traditions that go back generations, even before my mom was a student there. It is wonderful to participate in the same traditions that she did when she was there and now my little one is learning about them too and will enjoy them when he becomes a tiger too.
Two of our favorite traditions surround Toomer’s Corner. In Auburn, there is a cute old time drugstore in the center of town where the campus begins called Toomer’s Drugstore. They serve fresh hand squeezed lemonade every day and have been doing so for generations. Any time you visit Auburn, you must stop by and get a glass of Toomer’s Lemonade. So of course our tailgate would not be complete without some!
Another loved tradition is rolling the trees at Toomer’s Corner with toilet paper on every winning game day. A few years back, a terrible tragedy took place that destroyed the two main oak trees at the corner of campus and this summer they were removed. A sad day for thousands of Auburn students, residents & alumni. Until the soil is restored and new trees can be planted, the tradition will continue because the city put up structures for fans to roll with toilet paper. I discovered a piece of art at Auburn Art that says it best and had to have a sign with the same sentiment on my table with our rolls of toilet paper.
I kept my menu simple with sub style sandwiches which I put in cute orange striped bags that I printed with “War Eagle” for an extra touch. Sun Chips in two flavors were packaged in our team colors and I made an easy pasta salad to compliment the menu. I added a little orange food coloring to the pasta while it boiled to make it colored for our tailgate. Printable labels with our menu items are a perfect touch to let our guests know what they are being served.
And the desserts were super easy! Chocolate covered Oreos in the shapes of footballs were really fun and I think my favorite are the tiger tails! They are large marshmallows covered in orange candy melts and then “striped” with melted blue candy melts. My cupcakes were homemade and the mini cupcakes were so easy to just add a sugar football and paper flag while the larger cupcakes are AUsome with our vintage Aubie cupcake toppers. I just uploaded an image of Aubie to Gogo Cake and chose the 2″ circle shapes. A week later a sugar sheet of pre-cut circles came printed in edible ink of my image. SO CUTE! I peeled them off and laid them on top of white fondant circles I cut out myself (really easy to do!). I just love the way they turned out!
I attached our Auburn pennant flag banner around the edge of our team tablevogue tablecloth, added a few Auburn plates & napkins to serve my food on, and we were all set! With a football to play around with, we are officially ready for kickoff! War Eagle!

I love it! I am hosting a tailgate later this season and love your ideas. Where did you get the sub wrappings?
Amy's Party Ideas says
Hi Skylar!
Thank you for your sweet comments! The sub wrappings are actually paper party bags that I picked up at Swooies. I printed the WAR EAGLE on them using my printer at home. The trick is to put a piece of cardstock inside the bag before you feed them through the printer…that gives it the stability to go through without getting jammed.
And if you want a really easy way out, just have Swoozies print them for you! Here is a link to the bags I used: Orange Stripe Party Bags
