While the world watches the Summer Olympics in London 2012, my most recent ‘Ask Amy‘ question was for ideas for an Olympics themed party. Well, Bird’s Party just posted their Olympic Party along with their set of printable partyware for this awesome theme! They thought of every detail and I award them the gold medal for “Best All Around Party Theme”! Be sure to read all of the details on how to recreate this party including how to make the Olympic Ring Sugar Cookies, Chocolate Medals, and the Olympic Torch. Bird lays out the full party plan including party food, desserts, party favors, & games! And don’t forget to purchase all of the printable partyware from Bird’s Party Shop!
And for the ultimate way to serve food at your party, check out these flags created from food for the Sydney International Food Festival. AMAZING!
To top off the party, why not serve some Olympic torch cupcakes or use a Cupcake Kit for the event? Party Pinching tells you how to make the torch cupcakes and Traylor Papers is one of the few stores that haven’t already sold out of this adorable Olympic Cupcake Kit.
However you choose to celebrate, go for the gold and celebrate in Olympic proportions!

I was recently asked about some Baseball party ideas for an adult party. I found some great ones that I hope can inspire you to hit a home run with this party theme!
I love this idea for a more sophisticated Baseball party theme. This incredible image is from Rebecca Thuss. A serving tray filled with baseball wrapped chocolates, baseball sugar cookies, and other treats topped with a printable sign saying “Take Me Out To The Ballgame” is just brilliant. And clear bags filled with caramel corn & peanuts sealed with printable bag toppers that say “Buy Me Some Peanuts & Cracker Jacks” are an added touch of perfection.
To set up your food table, I love the idea of using old crates to create different tiers to place your food. For the menu, you could stick to the classic ball park foods and serve hot dogs, popcorn, peanuts, nachos, beverages, and then have some candy on hand for a concession stand! The above photo is from Posh Tot Events.
Other ideas for a candy bar are to include baseball themed candy like Big League Chew bubblegum packs. I love how the pennant flag signs were inserted into a baseball to carry the theme through. And I like this centerpiece idea. Using grass carpet inside a box with the baseballs and signs are a great way to showcase the theme and the event. For an adult birthday party, I would change the sign to say something like “Welcome to the Benjamin’s 43rd Inning!…Batter Up” These images are from Celebrations at Home.
I hope the party is a Home Run with everyone who attends!
When I was in college, I did my internship in Kentucky and I can honestly say, there are few places more beautiful than the rolling hills of bluegrass. The horse culture is very prominent and on one occasion when my parent’s came to visit, we went to the Kentucky Horse Parkwhich is home to the burial place of Man o’ War, who was unquestionably the most famous Thoroughbred who ever lived.
The Kentucky Derby is right around the corner on May 5th so I wanted to share some easy, fun party ideas that I have discovered! So gather your friends, serve up the mint juleps and watch the “Greatest Two Minutes in Sports”.
