Summer is just around the corner and it’s time to start thinking about entertaining! I love this time of year, when I can host dinner parties and outdoor movies and game nights in the garden. I wanted to create an Americana tablescape that we can use to celebrate the summer holidays; Memorial Day, Fourth of July and Labor Day. I popped into my favorite entertaining store, Swoozie’s and picked up some cute things for my party! I just love how it all came together. I am sharing all the fun details below.
For my dinner party, I wanted a red, white and blue theme that could carry me through the summer holidays. I love using items I already have and adding a few new things to the mix. For the table, I started with a beautiful blue and white paper table runner. This comes on a roll and all you have to do is roll it out to the length of your table, trim it off and keep the rest of the roll for future dinner parties! Next, I used these paper placemats topped with my own blue and white china. Add a pearly white dessert plate and top with a knotted napkin with your cutlery tucked in it and you have a beautiful and relaxed place setting. I love the pop of red that my crystal goblets give and these Kate Spade stemless wine glasses are perfect for outdoors!
I love having a little favor for my guests to take home. I found some small red and white striped gift bags that I used for my favors as well as for a place cards. I created a printable place card that you can edit and type in your guests’ names and tape a small sparkler to enjoy after the sun sets. I will link to the printable down below.
For my centerpiece, my sweet friend, Tori Brinson created a stunning arrangement using fresh cut white roses, red ranunculus, a potted maidenhair fern, and fresh cuttings of greenery. I just posted her tips on how you can recreate your own arrangement here in the last blog post.
Now that the table is all set, let’s talk food! One of my favorite things to serve is a cheese board. And when I saw this one, I knew it was a perfect fit for my dinner party! I love the colors, the strawberry bruschetta (you can get the recipe on the link above!) and it was definitely a hit!
Since we had an amazing start to our meal, we finished it off with the dessert of all desserts! Have you seen the latest trend of cookie tart cakes? It is stunning in person and so delicious! My awesome friend, Carrie of Cakeitecture Bakery made the cookie tart for me and added the piped buttercream. I added fresh fruit, macrons, star shaped cookies, meringues and other dessert bites to the top the day of the party. I just love how it turned out and I love how creative you can be. For those of you who want to channel your inner artist, I recommend giving this a try. It is so much fun!
I really do love to create a beautiful setting for my friends and family to enjoy a meal. At the end of the day, the most important thing is time spent with people we love. I hope it’s a great start to a summer filled with love, laughter and plenty of food!

I have a question about you book. What is the difference between The original copy and the Barns and noble copy. I want to know which gives me more party’s or what is so special. I want to buy the book but I want to know what gives me my best bang for my buck. Thank you and love the party ideas.

Hi Caroline! Thank you for your kind words 🙂 So the Barnes and Noble version is exclusive to them and it has a different cover and includes(the Beauty and the Beast Book Club Dinner Party. The other version has everything else in it except that one party. Hope that helps!
