Elephant Baby Shower {Real Parties I’ve Styled}

One of the best parts of styling parties is when I get to do it for my friends!  Earlier this year, I got a chance to team up with three friends to give a baby shower for one of our friends who found out she was having a girl!  This story is especially sweet to those of us who know and love this mom-to-be.  The birth of this little girl was the beginning of a new journey for our friend, her husband and their son.  Their story had come full circle and we were all filled with joy to welcome this precious gift into the world.

My friend’s sister loved elephants!   When she found out her due date, the baby was due within a week of her sister’s birthday.  My friend lost her sister years ago.  We had our theme…Elephants with the colors ivory, white, grey and a touch of pink of course!  It’s a Girl!

Our entire theme was based off our custom invitations created and designed by Elizabeth of Swanky Press.  The mommy-to-be just loved them and so did we!  We even made pink chocolate elephants to match!

Our diaper cake was wrapped in fabric & ribbon to match our theme!  As everyone arrived, they each wrote a sentiment on a card and tied it to the wishing tree.  We also had a beautiful custom made guest book handcrafted by Mary from Special Occasion Design.  She makes the most beautiful, high quality guest books I have ever seen.

A special gift we gave the mommy-to-be was a custom made leather wrap bracelet from The Lucky Elephant!  The raised trunk on the elephant charm is a symbol of good luck and it was a perfect sentiment for the occasion! I just love anything The Lucky Elephant creates!!!

We had a Saturday morning brunch for her shower.  The menu included mini quiches, assorted muffins, fresh jams, fruit salad, croissants, a fresh bistro salad with turkey & cranberries, gourmet cupcakes from a local bakery, and pink lemonade & mimosas (for those of us who were not with child!).

As the women gathered and socialized and had a chance to eat, the games began!  I cannot take credit for the brilliant games we played.  One of our hostesses coordinated all the details for these and they were perfect!  She had four gift bags, one with each letter of the word “BABY” on the front.  Inside each bag was a gift for our mommy-to-be that began with the letter showing on the front of the bag.  We were to guess what was in each bag.  The person who guessed the most corrrectly won a gift card to Starbucks and the mommy-to-be got 4 more gifts!

Another fun game our hostess had prepared was Gift Baby Bingo.  She had a bingo cards printed for each guest.  As we sat around to watch the gifts being opened, we were able to mark the spot of each gift on our bingo cards.   Whoever got Bingo first won another gift card  It was really fun and a little competitive too!

Pink & Grey Elephant Baby Shower Party Favors

Each guest received the cutest bath soap “cupcake” favors from Moodylicious Children’s Spa and we wrapped them in pink organza drawstring bags and tied a silver stamped charm to them that said “It’s a Girl!”

It was a beautiful day in our friend’s beautiful home and we enjoyed every minute of celebrating with the mommy-to-be as we all eagerly anticipated the arrival of this precious little girl!  But her big brother summed it up best with his wishing tree note to his unborn sister:

  1. I absolutely loved the diaper cake. The fabric you used looks so elegant and fancy. Thank you for sharing that. BTW, where did you get that fabric?
